How to prepare your vehicle for long journeys?

Almost all like to perform long journeys in their vehicle either it may be a car or a SUV.  If you wish to have a safe and trouble free long journey in your vehicle, here are few tips:

1. Before you perform any long journey in your vehicle, please make sure that all the lamps in your vehicle are glowing properly.  Also make sure that the lamps are maintained properly.

2. The air pressure in all the tyres of your vehicle should be checked properly before you start.  The air pressure in all the tyres should be as per the Car / Vehicle manufacturer's specifications / recommendations.  Also please do not forget to carry a stepney tyre with air filled in properly.

3. You have to see that adequate water has been filled in, in your vehicle's radiator [if your vehicle model requires so].  See that the fuel viz., Petrol / Diesel / L.P.G. [Liquified Petroleum Gas] is / are filled in the tank up to the required level.

4. Please do not carry any highly inflammable materials in your vehicle.  The same may likely to cause problems for you during the journey.

5. When you stop / pit stop your vehicle in Highways / National Highways, please switch on the indicator lamps of your vehicle.  Also you can avoid long journey and listening to music / songs loudly during nights.

6. Even though the roads are empty or with less traffic, it is always better to drive your vehicle at an optimum / moderate speed.  It is advisable that for every 150 Kilo meters, you and your vehicle must take at least 10 minutes rest.

7. You should always have a Torch light and a small hammer in your vehicle.  When you are stopping the vehicle for relaxation, it is better to switch off the air conditioner in the vehicle and keep all the windows open for getting natural air.

8. Whenever you start, always ensure that the doors of your vehicle are properly locked.  Also, it is better to have at least 3 to 5 litres of drinking water in the vehicle before you start.

9. Also proper care should be taken by the person who sits nearby the person who drives the vehicle that no distraction is meant by way of conversation or actions etc.

Hope with the above precautions you can have a safe long journey.
